Our Vegetable Garden

Last year Ms. O’Brien got local funding to buy a poly tunnel for the school. We started most of our plants from seeds. When the seeds have grown we transplant them from the trays into bigger pots and place them outside the tunnel. We started planting after Easter. We have made a herb garden outside the tunnel. Herbs can be used in food to season and give it flavour. We also have a lot of edible plants in the tunnel such as radishes, tomatoes, runner beans, strawberries and much more. This year we decided to grow sweetcorn. Sweetcorn is very colourful and exotic. We have over 20 plants in the tunnel. All of the classes took part in helping Liz plant in the tunnel and they all had fun. We all learned loads from our time in the tunnel. There will be a plant sale at the fun day which is on the 21st June.

We’d like to thank Liz for the opportunity to help in the tunnel. We’ve all really enjoyed ourselves!
